Introducing Sakhi Bhandaru!

Sakhi Bhandaru is a Graduate from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Los Angeles (FIDM) and has graduated with three different degrees:

  • Associates of Arts in Merchandise Product Development

  • Advanced Associates of Arts in International Manufacturing and Product Development

  • Bachelors of Science in Business Management

Born in Ranchi, a small town in North India, raised in Seattle since she was a baby, Sakhi found her passion for fashion when she realized she was unique in her own way: being slightly shorter and curvier than the rest of her peers. Due to self-esteem issues and bullying, this further fueled Sakhi’s passion for seeking a career within the fashion industry. Sakhi has the motivation of helping other individuals who struggle with proportions due to their height as well as size.

Through her commitment for pursuing her passion, Sakhi was awarded the City of Bellevue Youthlink Creative and Innovative Thinker Award in June of 2019 for her project in raising awareness of the power of alterations, and finding clothes that make one feel confident. Sakhi took that passion to new levels while at FIDM, interning for Abercrombie & Fitch, startups MySocialCanvas and Coven Magazine to showcase companies and other individuals the importance of creating awareness that inclusivity isn’t just one spectrum, but a myriad of opportunity. With her industry knowledge, and valuable community, Sakhi hopes to pave her way in the industry and seek roles within Design, Product Development and Production, to give girls the knowledge of knowing they have something that fits them right, from the start.
